The HomeBrew Club is making trip to Bangkok to explore the pubs and brew pubs there. We will be flying JetStarAsia airlines on August 4th at 17:35 and returning on August 7th on the 18:00 flight. We will be staying at the Ambassador Hotel at 171 Sukhumvit Road, Soi 11. Travel arrangements can be made through Sandy at Perfect Travel, Peoples Park Complex #03-21, North Bridge Road, Tel: 65386812 Email: sales@perfecttravel99.com.sg. The current price for airfare and three nights hotel, including transfers and breakfasts is S$491. The price may increase so call and book soon. 

As usual, you are all welcome and you may come and go whenever you want and stay where you want and join us for the exploring whenever you want.

The August meeting will NOT be held at Brewerkz on August 9^th.

August 9^th is Singapore’s National Day, so the meeting will be postponed one week to August 16^th at 7:30 pm. Instead of being held at Brewerkz, August’s meeting will be held at the house of one of our members, Phil Parcell. Phil has brewed a partial mash batch of Pils (with club ingredients) that will be shared at the meeting.

Archipelago Master Brewer Fal Allen, also a member, is expected to surprise us with some of his beer.

Members are welcome to bring samples of their homebrew to share. Bill will bring some Newcastle Brown Ale.

The October meeting of the HomeBrew Club will be held at the newly completed Archipelago Brewery which is located in Tuas.

Transport will be arranged from Boon Lay MRT @ 7pm.

Wednesday February 14 is Valentine's Day and also a lot of people are traveling, so it is not a good day for the meeting. So the meeting will be postponed until Wednesday February 21. The meeting will be held at Brewerkz at 7:30 pm as usual.

We will have Guess that Beer and some homebrew tasting. There will be an update on the Length Dragon Brewery in Batam and the White Labs presentation at the Pump Room. And last but not least, our most distant member will be attending the meeting and bringing some American beers for tasting.

It will be held on Wednesday July 11 at the Archipelago Brewery in Tuas. We have arranged a bus to pick everyone up at the bus stop near the Boon Lay MRT station (Same as past visits. See the attached map. We normally gather at the foot bridge so everyone can see us.). The bus will pick us up at 7pm and bring us to the brewery. At 10pm, the bus will return us from the brewery to the MRT station. In between we will get to see the brewery and enjoy some of their beers and pizza and snacks. And of course we will talk about beer. If you want to go to the brewery directly (at 7:30pm) it’s okay, but do be careful about drinking and driving.

The August HomeBrew Club meeting will be held on Wednesday August 8th at the Prince of Wales pub at 101 Dunlop Street in Little India. As usual, the meeting will start at 7:30 and go on as long as you like to stay. 

We will be sitting in the beer garden for the meeting. The pub does not have its own restaurant but they can organize meals to be delivered from local establishments, especially Indian curries for around S$5.50 per meal. You are however free to bring or order your own meal from somewhere else if you are not a fan of Indian food. 

For those who don’t know yet, Prince of Wales is the newest sponsor the HomeBrew Club. They offer our members a discounted price of S$6 per pint for Grand Ridge (Australian) draft beers. That's 25% off the usual price of S$8! You get that discount at the meeting of course, but also any time you visit POW with your membership card.

Brewerkz has recently opened a second outlet at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Our September club meeting will be held there on Wednesday the 12th at 7:30 pm to give everyone a chance to see that.

The October meeting will be held on Wednesday the 10^th at 7:30pm. The location this month is the house of our member, Phil Parcell. The address is 12 Tanglin Walk. See the map below. Phil has made a ~30 liter batch of honey basil ale to share with the group. Fal will be donating some Tiger beer for the lager lovers. Any brewers are welcome to bring some of their beers for tasting or sharing. We’ll arrange for some snacks and pizza.

Please RVSP fairly soon if you plan to come so we can have a rough idea how many will attend and Phil can prepare for the crowd.

The November HomeBrew Club meeting will be held on Wednesday the 14th at Lot Stock and Barrel pub on Seah Street near the Raffles Hotel. As usual, the meeting will start at 7:30 and go on as long as you like to stay.

The pub does not have its own restaurant but there are plenty of nice restaurants nearby - Thai, Vietnamese and more. We are permitted to order food and bring it in to eat at the pub.

Lot Stock and Barrel is a sponsor of our club and offers happy hour prices on beer all day long. Archipelago beer is available there as well the usual local beers.

The December HomeBrew Club meeting will be held on Wednesday the 12th at Brewerkz new brewery at:

The meeting will start at 730 till 930.

There will be cask conditioned beer, specially made for this evening and we will most likely order food like pizza to be delivered.

The January HomeBrew Club meeting will be held on January 9^th at 7:30pm at Paulaner Bräuhaus at Millenia Walk opposite Suntec Convention Center.

We’ll be taking 2008 membership renewals and new member applications too. We’ll be able to issue permanent membership cards on the spot. In 2007 we grew to 54 members. I hope we can top that this year. We have a bigger list of sponsors than ever before and Paulaner has generously offered to become a sponsor and is offering 15% discounts to our members (starting 1 Jan 2008).

Guess that Beer will be back on again this month because I have a couple prizes to give away. If anyone has a homebrewed beer to share, please bring it along.

Please let me know if you will be coming and if bringing any guests. I want to give a rough count to Paulaner so they can reserve the space for us.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday the 13th at RedDot BrewHouse. This brewhouse is designed and built by one of our members, Ernest!

The March meeting will be held at the home of our fellow member, Richard Wellershoff. The meeting will begin at 7:30pm on Wednesday March 12. Richard is a prolific brewer and will be sharing a number of his brews with us. He will be providing snacks and homemade pizza for us to enjoy along with his beers.

As usual when we hold a meeting at a member’s house, we would like to let Richard know how many people are coming. Members and guests are welcome. Please RSVP to me if you will be coming or not and if you will be bringing any guests.

The April meeting will be held at The Pump Room in Clarke Quay on Wednesday April 9 starting at 7:30pm. Last time we held a regular meeting there they were brand new and had run out of their beer the day before the meeting. This time they are well established and their beer is readily available. That should make this a more interesting meeting.

We’ll be taking new memberships and renewals. We’ll have Guess That Beer. And please bring your homebrews to share with others.

This month’s meeting will be our first ever pub crawl. We will meet on Wednesday May 14 at 7:30 pm at the Straits Archipelago outlet on Pekin Street in Far East Square. After some beer and some time (maybe 8:30), we will walk over to the Circular Road Archipelago and continue the meeting and beers there. Don’t worry; it’s only a five minute walk. Brewmaster Fal Allen has walked between the two outlets many times and will be leading the way. If anyone is coming late, call me or sms me at 98190616 to find out if we have made the move yet. Let's hope it doesn't rain.

For the June meeting we are going back to our roots. The meeting will be held at the Brewerkz at Clarke Quay on Wednesday June 11 starting at 7:30pm.

For the Nov  meeting we are going back to our roots. The meeting will be held at the Brewerkz at Clarke Quay on Wednesday Nov 12 starting at 7:30pm.

You can bring your homebrewed beers to share with others and  'Guess That Beer' will be back.

The meeting will be held at the Red Dot BrewHouse on Wednesday Dec 10 starting at 7:30pm.

Renewal of membership for 2009 can be done there.

We are doing a few things differently this year and hopefully better.

We will use our monthly meetings (2nd Wednesday of the month) mainly to visit the breweries and their outlets. The gatherings (4th week of the month) will be used mainly to visit our other sponsors and to explore new places.

We will also publish the (tentative) meeting schedule for the whole year, so everyone knows well in advance where we will be meeting and can plan accordingly. Of course things are subject to change. And we will still be sending out reminders before the meetings.

The (tentative) meeting schedule for 2009 is below. Where tour is indicated, we will be asking the brewery to give us a tour for those interested members and guests.
